RCRA hazardous waste generators that ship waste off-site must sign and acknowledge the waste minimization certification on a uniform hazardous waste manifest in accordance with 40 CFR 262.27. Additionally, large quantity generators must have a program in place to reduce the volume and toxicity of waste generated.
Curie’s waste minimization program consists of reducing the mass and volume of hazardous waste generated by performing on-site consolidation of lab packs, elementary neutralization, deactivation and return of compressed gas cylinders to the manufacturer.
Our chemists and technicians will typically perform on-site waste minimization services 1 week in advance of routine scheduled pickups by the generator’s waste contractor. A summary report will be prepared for the generator that may be used as the inventory for the upcoming shipment.
The advantages of our waste minimization program include the following:
- Significant cost savings – reduce your quarterly shipment cost by up to 50%
- Effective waste minimization – reduce your mass/volume of hazardous waste by 25%
- Continue to use your existing hazardous waste contractors
